These workshop classes will be offered at our studio located at
200 W. Bullard B1, Clovis, CA 93612.
Our workshops take place on Mondays from 10:00am – 12:00pm.
Our workshops are led by industry professionals who bring their expertise to these sessions.

STEP #1: You must first register for the class(es) your student wants to participate in.
STEP #2: Order your certificate from Monarch or Yosemite Valley.
STEP #3: Once we receive your certificate, we will email you to confirm that you are registered for your class(es).

April 7, 2025
Table Top Product Photography (3 Point Lighting)
In this class, students will learn how to take cool, professional photos of products using a tabletop setup. They’ll discover how to use 3-point lighting to make the product look its best, and get hands-on practice with cameras, lights, and props.

Camera Basics for Photography (DSLR)
In this class, students will learn the basics of using a DSLR camera (or manual settings on a smartphone) for photography. They’ll find out how to hold the camera, focus, and adjust settings like brightness and zoom. Students will get to practice taking photos and learn tips to make their pictures look great!

Greenscreen Basic & Virtual Backgrounds
In this class, students will learn how to use a green screen to change the background in photos and videos. They’ll see how virtual backgrounds work and to create the illusion of compositing two environments into one.

Portrait Photography & Studio Lighting
In this class, students will learn how to take great photos of people. They’ll use studio lights to make their subject look their best and practice posing, framing, and lighting to create amazing photos by creating different moods with the lighting. Come dressed to impress because each student will get their portrait taken as part of this workshop.

Becoming a YouTuber (YouTube Setup Basics) – PART #1
In this class, students will learn how to set up their own space for filming YouTube videos. They’ll get hands-on practice with lighting, cameras or webcams, and microphones to make sure everything looks and sounds great. Students will also learn how to frame their shot so they’re ready to start recording!

Becoming a YouTuber (Being on Camera & Planning Your Video) – PART #2
In this class, students will learn how to feel confident on camera and share their ideas. They’ll practice speaking clearly, using good energy, and planning out a video from start to finish. Students will also work on fun video ideas, like challenges, how-tos, and learn how to connect with an audience.

Lighting & Shadows
In this class, students will explore how light and shadows can change the look of a photo or video. They’ll try different lighting setups to see how shadows fall and learn how to make their subject stand out or create cool effects. It’s a fun way to play with light and get creative!

Backlighting & Silhouettes
In this class, students will learn how to light their subject from behind to create cool effects like glowing edges and dark silhouettes. They’ll practice making fun photos and videos where the person or object looks like a shadow, and discover how to use backlighting to add drama and style to their work.
Workshop Instruction Format
Description: Every workshop is a class in itself. A student can attend one or all of the workshops each month and will still gain valuable hands-on experience. Students will be taught professionalism, teamwork, overcoming obstacles, and the value of deadlines.
Format
- 9:50 am: Students should arrive 10 minutes early and be ready to start at 10:00 am.
- 10:00 am: Instructer will give an overview of the workshop for the day.
- 10:15 am: Materials gathering and setting up for the project. Hands-on experience working on the project of the day. Lights, camera, action.
- 11:30 am: Teardown, cleaning, and sharing time of reflection/lessons.
- 12:00 pm: Parents to pick up their students.
Grade Level: Appropriate for students is 10 years of age and older.
Passionate Learners: These workshops are designed as real-life learning on actual projects in a professional working environment. Children should be passionate about learning and should be excited to show up for class. Your student will be treated like as if they are a professional employee.
Price: $150 (for a single workshop)

Workshop Examples
Filming & Audio (Previous Workshop)
Description
This is an engaging and comprehensive workshop designed for aspiring filmmakers and audio enthusiasts consisting of two hours of hands-on learning. Students will explore the fundamentals of video filming and audio recording, understanding how visual storytelling is enhanced by quality sound. The course covers everything from basic camera operation and shot composition to sound recording techniques and syncing audio with video, providing a solid foundation for budding filmmakers.
Equipment Provided: Cameras, lighting equipment, and a variety of props and backgrounds will be provided along with all other needed equipment. If you own any relevant gear like a camera, feel free to bring it along with you. We encourage everyone to be a part of the hands-on experience.
Takeaway Skills: Basic understanding of camera operations and filming techniques. Principles of shot composition and framing. Fundamentals of audio recording, including microphone types and usage. Skills in syncing audio and video in post-production. Technical knowledge of video and audio production and editing.

Green Screen Filming & Lighting (Previous Workshop)
Description
This immersive, hands-on workshop is designed for aspiring filmmakers and enthusiasts. Participants will dive into the fascinating world of green screen technology – a cornerstone of modern film and video production. This workshop covered the basics of green screen filming, lighting techniques, and the magic of chroma keying, enabling students to create visually stunning effects seen in movies and TV shows. At the Digital Attic Studio, we will go through multiple ways to set up greenscreens and blue screens, and we will even use our Cyclorama wall in combination with colored lighting for a unique blue or green canvas for chroma keying.
Equipment Provided: Cameras, lighting equipment, and various props and backgrounds will be provided along with all other needed equipment. If you own any relevant gear, like a camera, feel free to bring it along with you. We encourage everyone to be a part of the hands-on experience.
Takeaway Skills: By the end of this workshop, students will have a fundamental understanding of green screen technology, the ability to set up and light a green screen, and the skills to shoot and edit basic green screen footage.

When are your classes?
The dates and times of our art classes. Our instructor will reach out to you after your registration to coordinate the dates and times for each class session and when they start. Our workshop classes take place on Monday morings from 9:30am to 12:00pm.
Who teaches your classes?
- Troy Vasquez: with 30+ years of experience running a video production company, he brings real-life skills, having been an animator, creative director, video producer, cinematographer, commercial photographer, and special effects compositor. He teaches most of our stop-motion classes and more of our advanced classes.
- Allison Vasquez: She is a professional photographer and artist. She teaches all of our drawing and artist study classes.
Where do your classes take place?
Most of our classes take place at Digital Attic's Studio located at 200 W. Bullard B1, Clovis, CA 93612.
Can my littler children come to your classes too?
Unfortunately, we do not allow kids younger than is expressed in the class descriptions. Students will be in our working studio and around very expensive equipment. Due to the risk, we do not offer any exceptions to this rule. Please contact us if you have further questions.
What equipment should my student bring to the workshop classes?
We will provide all necessary equipment for the workshop classes, but we highly recommend students to bring their own DSLR camera if they have one. During the workshop, the class will have the chance to observe and interact with our professional cinema cameras and/or photography cameras. Individual equipment will not be provided to students. If your student has a DSLR, please ensure it is charged and ready to use, as they will have opportunities to ask questions, become familiar with their equipment, and use it during the workshops.
Can parents stay with their child for the workshop classes?
We recommend that you drop your student off for our workshop classes so that they can focus without distractions. We want your student to feel like they are at a job.
How should my student dress for the workshop classes?
We recommend that your student wear pants (like jeans), closed toed shoes, and a non-distracting shirt or top. We keep the studio between 70-73 degrees so your student might want to bring a cover-up or light jacket if they consider this cold.
Do you offer field trips?
Yes, we offer studio tours, behind the scenes experiences for students K-12. If your student is interested in a career in the video, photography, or content creation, please contact us so we can customize your experience for your group. We can create a fun immersive experience for your group. If you are interested in a field trip, please call our main office number at (559) 324-9341.

Troy Vasquez
Troy Vasquez is a creative visionary with over 30 years of experience in digital media, marketing, and video production. As the founder and CEO of Digital Attic, a full-service creative agency, he has spent his career bringing ambitious ideas to life.
Troy’s love for storytelling and visual arts started at a young age, inspired by the magic of cinema and the power of great design. Over the years, he has worked with industry giants like DreamWorks and Pixar, gaining firsthand experience in animation, video production, and brand storytelling. His expertise spans videography, photography, digital marketing, and even 3D animation, making him a true jack-of-all-trades in the creative world.
Beyond his professional work, Troy is passionate about teaching and inspiring young minds. He loves rolling up his sleeves and working alongside students, encouraging them to experiment, explore, and discover their creative voices.
